Wagait Beach Supermarket is the hub of Wagait Beach and offers a wide range of goods and services. The staff are friendly and informative; and the shop is an integral part of the community.
Chris and Sue Chaplin have operated Wagait Beach Supermarket since April 2000.
Our staff are all local residents and many of them have worked for us for several years. Employing local juniors is a priority and in excess of a dozen have begun their working careers at Wagait Beach Supermarket.
Wagait Beach Supermarket is a long term supporter of local events and organisations at both Wagait Beach and Belyuen.
The local environment is another high priority for Wagait Beach Supermarket. We are active recyclers utilising the recycling facilities at Wagait Beach to best effect. Wagait Beach Supermarket also hosts Envirobank several times each year when Envirobank conducts on-site mobile recycling depots. This enables local residents to “cash in their cans” in Wagait Beach without having to travel to Darwin to do so. A solar PV system has been installed to assist with electricity generation and to reduce the business’ carbon footprint.
We are self sufficient during power outages and extreme weather events with a Dorman 115KVa generator to supply power in such situations.
